Breezy Present

In Memory of Breezy

Breezy and his Dad joined us in 2014. We met them at an event while everyone was enjoying a beautiful day. We noticed he and Breezy were watching us from a distance, curious but not that curious. When I approached him, petted Breezy and explained our program they came over and we discussed how Breezy would be a wonderful therapy pet!

Well, it turned out Breezy defined what a therapy pet is! Everyone loved this little boy and his Dad’s schedule changed to the ‘designated driver’ status quickly! They made regular visits almost daily and Breezy was always in demand! His Dad’s schedule was flexible and Breezy’s fan club grew with each visit.

When Breezy began to have some problems, his Dad learned Breezy was fighting cancer. And fight he did, what he gave to his volunteer hours he gave 100% more in his fight to beat the cancer. His Dad moved Heaven on earth with every treatment available, his doctors did everything possible to save him.

Heartbreaking news, Breezy has passed away, his legacy will bring comfort to his Dad someday. As everyone knows that has lost an angel, words to offer any comfort are hard to find. One of Breezy’s dear friends generously donated a memorial to our group in his name. We sincerely thank Hillary Rosenberg for her generous donation in memory of a little boy who gave more love to strangers than most people do. His legacy lives forever in many hearts. We are so grateful to his Dad for sharing him. Our love and sympathy to his Dad at this heartbreaking time.

Breezy’s Story

Breezy, rescued from an overcrowded kill shelter in May 2014, he was a sweet and gentle beagle, always ready to make people smile. He began his career as a pet therapy dog 1/17/2015. Over the next five years and more than 700 visits, Breezy and his Dad Neil touched the hearts of people at assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, libraries, elementary schools, and a refuge for abused and neglected children. In July of 2021, Breezy was diagnosed with lymphoma. He fought bravely, continuing his walks at St Pete Pier, and bringing joy to all around him. Breezy passed away 3/2/2024 surrounded by love and many of those who cared for him. He will be missed, but never forgotten.
